How it works
Northumberland County Council publishes the times when the causeway is safe. I've taken that data and found the midpoint of every safe window.
Set off 90 to 120 minutes before that midpoint and the tide is still falling all the way across — you'll be off the sands well before it turns.
I only show crossings that fall in daylight. The Pilgrim's Way is three miles of open sand and mud with no lighting, and should only be crossed during the daytime.
The causeway (the tarmac road) is open for longer than the sands are safe to walk, so I show both. Handy if you're leaving one car on the island and driving the other back to the mainland before walking.
